Guidance of luggage you are allowed to bring on to the bus and luggage that can be stowed in the trunk.

Size of luggage

Size of luggage
  • You may only take 1 luggage on to the bus.
  • Size of luggage is limited to those that fit in the luggage rack or can be handled at your seat.
    (*Temperature may be high under your feet due to heater.)
  • Due to the size of luggage rack, if the luggage is determined to be too large to be taken on to the bus, bus crew or check-in crew may ask to stow the luggage in the luggage compartment under the floor instead.

Limitations of items allowed on the bus

Cutting instruments

Cutting instruments and other items that may become a deadly weapon are not allowed on the bus for safety reasons; these items shall be kept in the luggage compartment under the floor.

Dangerous items

Please note that there are dangerous items and drugs prohibited to be taken on to the bus and inside the trunk under the floor by law. <Dangerous items and drugs prohibited to be carried on by law>
Explosives (including fireworks of more than 100g), gas, fuels, lighter fuels, alcoholic liquids, other flammable liquids, explosive materials, corrosive materials, etc.

Pets

Please be aware that pets are not allowed on the bus or under the trunk.

Items that are strongly restricted to be taken on the bus. (Please stow it in the trunk under the floor.)

Firearms or swords and other such weapons, golf clubs, other items such as baseball bats that may become a deadly weapon

Luggages to be kept in the luggage compartment under the floor

  • Luggage you will not use on the bus such as suitcase shall be stowed in the trunk
  • We recommend you to place a mark such as a name tag so you know which item belongs to you
  • Maximum of 2 luggage per person may be kept in the trunk under the floor. Please be aware that we cannot keep more than 3 luggages per person under the floor.

In the case of 2 luggage - Length + Width + Height = Total of 240cm or less

About Sports Equipment and Bicycles

We may be able to stow sports equipment or bicycles that exceed standard size limits in the bus's luggage compartment. As space is limited, please contact us by phone (050-3537-5678) or email (info@kotobus-express.jp) before booking to check availability, and provide your reservation number once the booking is complete. We cannot accept such items without prior notification.

Sports equipment

We may be able to accept sports equipment—such as surfboards, snowboards, or fishing gear—even if it exceeds standard size limits. Please measure the three dimensions (length, width, and height) and contact us. Please note that items with any single dimension exceeding 200 cm cannot be accepted.

Bicycles and the like

We will accept items only if they are placed in a designated bicycle transport bag.

○A dedicated bag for storage after disassembly or folding.
○A bag capable of fully enclosing the bicycle (ensuring no parts of the bicycle, such as the saddle or wheels, protrude).
○Size: The sum of length, width, and height must be within 240 cm.
○Weight: 30 kg or less

About Wheelchairs

We will stow your wheelchair in the trunk in its folded state. Please let us know after making your reservation, along with your reservation number.
※We cannot accept non-foldable wheelchairs or electric wheelchairs for transport, either inside the bus or in the luggage compartment.

Please be advised that the operating company assumes no liability for any loss, theft, or damage regarding luggage stored in the trunk.

Restrictions on luggages to be stowed in the luggage compartment under the floor

Breakable items

Inside the trunk will shake easily and heavily, and do not have a function to controlling temperature. Therefore, we cannot stow items that may break easily due to vibration or high temperature in the trunk under the floor.

Valuables

Please do not put valuables such as cash, precious metals and jewels, diamonds, securities, antiques or instruments in the luggage you are to stow in the trunk.

Dangerous goods

We cannot accept explosives, flammable items, edged weapons, chemicals, or similar items.

Portable charger

We cannot accept general electronic devices or portable batteries with built-in lithium-ion batteries as checked baggage. If you bring them into the cabin, please do not store them in the overhead bin; instead, keep them in a location where they remain visible at all times so that you can respond quickly in the unlikely event of a malfunction.

About Pets

Regardless of size, pets (live animals) are strictly prohibited inside the vehicle and cannot be accepted for transport in the trunk.
